Everything Is Better with a Guide!

Why am I so convinced that everything is better with a guide?Because exploring a place with a professional guide isa completely different experience. It adds value — and it also gives you an extra layer of safety.

But what actually makes the difference?

There are certainly important formal aspects:qualifications, professional training and insurance. But being a guide is about much more than that. It’s not just knowing what to do in an emergency, knowing the route, identifying a plant or remembering the year in which a particular fresco was painted. It’s about having a different way of approaching people and the places you encounter.

It’s a way of telling the story of a landscape, but also a way of looking and listening — and of helping others look and listen too.

It means constantly studying, exploring places beforehand, searching for books (and actually reading them!), attending seminars and doing research. And, if everything comes together, it means connecting all these pieces so that the people travelling with you can also see the relationships between people, history and the natural environment. Creating stories that are fascinating — but true.

A guide is not simply someone who takes you from one place to another, perhaps as part of a lively and cheerful group. A guide should be someone who helps you understand where you are and makes you fall in love with the landscapes you travel through.

So, in the end… Being a guide isn’t just something you do,It’s something you are.And travelling with a professional guide really does make a difference.

Try it and see for yourself!

Being a Tour Guide in Italy

In Italy, working as a professional tour guide requires an official qualification and registration in the National Register of Tour Guides. Only properly licensed guides are authorized to accompany visitors at sites of historical and artistic interest.

Environmental Hiking Guides

The profession of environmental hiking guide (GAE) is not regulated by a single national law in Italy, but professionalism remains essential. Proper training, insurance coverage and compliance with tax regulations are all important aspects that distinguish qualified professionals from those who simply improvise.

Insurance

Professional liability insurance covers potential damage caused to third parties, protecting both the guide and the people taking part in the activity. Although it is not mandatory, a professional guide should always have appropriate insurance coverage. AssoGuide provides third-party liability insurance (RCT) with coverage of up to €5,000,000.

Safety & Responsibility

Choosing a professional guide means enjoying your experience with greater peace of mind. A guide is trained in group management, risk assessment and emergency procedures. These technical aspects often go unnoticed by participants, but they are essential to ensuring that every experience is not only enjoyable, but also safe and professionally managed.
